Lagos, FCT, 13 others report 618 new COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths

Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory and 13 other states reported 618 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to figures released on Saturday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The health agency also reported 10 COVID-19 related deaths. 

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Saturday.

According to the agency, 618 new cases were recorded from 14 states and the FCT.

Lagos (312),Akwa Ibom (89), Edo (71), Rivers (47), Ekiti (20), Plateau (20), Delta (15), Kwara (13), FCT (11), Osun (8), Oyo (4), Ogun (3), Benue (3), Gombe (1) and Kaduna (1)

Lagos recorded the highest number of new infections with 312 new cases, Akwa Ibom – 89, Edo – 71, Rivers – 47, Ekiti – 20, Plateau – 20, Delta – 15, Kwara – 13, FCT – 11, Osun – 8, Oyo – 4, Ogun – 3, Benue – 3, with Gombe and Kaduna reporting a single case each.

The health agency said the 835 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 190,333

However, 169,815 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With 10 COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,308, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
